Default Don't recall if I finished the story.

I had a blued Model 58 that was a police turn in from NJ that I got in 1989. I posted a photo of it and was contacted by a police officer whose dad was with the same department that used my 58. He had been searching for years to find one of those 58s and appealed to me to sell him mine. I really didn't want to sell it but what are you gonna do?

I told him that I would trade him for a nickel 58 (I like the shiny ones). So he bought a nickel 58 off Gunbroker and we swapped. He seemed so excited to get that revolver I guess it was a good thing.

The problem now is that while my 58 was wearing the correct stocks the one I got in trade was not. It dates from 1965 so it needs the "Diamond" Modified Magnas. Not having the correct wood is driving me a little crazy but those stocks are near impossible to find.

Shoots OK for a service revolver with me behind the trigger.

Great story. Great revolver. Now if the officer who traded you would post in this thread it would be perfect.

He was not a member. A friend of his is and he alerted the officer to the photo of my gun. I guess the lesson is don't post too much info. Another member talked me out of a 1949 2" M&P because it shipped the day after he was born. He paid a price that was more than fair but again, I really wasn't looking to divest myself of the gun.

I think you did a good thing and I see why the guy is thrilled to have his dad's M58.
Plus you got a real nice harder to find nickel one.
Win/Win in my book.
