Default correct stocks for 28-2??

Are they stocks or grips??

This is my 28-2. Serial number I believe puts its manufacturing date in 1978.

My brother gave this to me a few years back and told me that I'm the only one who had ever shot it.

The very first time I took it rabbit hunting I'm quite sure was back in 1978 and it had the original stocks on it.

My brother put these pachmayr stocks on it and told me they would work better for what I was using it for.

He has tons of these things and I'm sure the originals are amongst them so I'm hoping to get an idea what they might have looked like.

I do want to find the originals as I no longer use it to hunt rabbits.

It would have had standard Magna or service stocks with flat bottoms, checkered walnut. Look for the digits of the serial number on the inside of the right panel to get the matching set.

S & W called these “stocks”, probably because their competitors called them “grips”.

“Duck season!” “Wabbit season!” Bonus points for correctly naming the cultural reference .

Thanks Alan.

I sure hope that I can find them. I would venture to guess that he has 50+ sets of different ones for lots of different handguns. I'm looking forward finding them and getting them put back on.

Wabbit season was always a great time.
