Default 1967 Model 19-2 Restore

Here is what I started with . Not too bad actually , but I wanted to clean things up a bit .

I usually soak in evapo rust for a few hours then begins the hand work .
work.

As can be expected there is a bit of pitting under the finish in places as shown here.

A bit of careful filing is in order .

More hand work / sanding and the pitting cleans up pretty well in this spot without compromising the contour of the frame any.

I usually go down to 320 grit paper and then blast with AO 180grit at about 100 or so psi. Or go with a wire wheel with .005 inch wire turning at 1700 to reveal any more areas that need work.
Then careful degreasing and start the rust blue process.

This is with a couple of cycles .

Now the finished gun . Went out and hung it on the wife's peach tree for something different as background.

Thanks for looking , it was a fun project .

Kirk

Very nice.
Though I saw nothing wrong with the "before" pictures myself.

I swear we have many talented people on this forum. You did a fantastic job, and I am sure you are proud of it. Many times when someone says they are going to "clean things up a bit", we see a cold blued nightmare. Definitely not here!

Before the re-blue it had character. You did a wonderful job. Now go out and rebuild that gun's character.
