Default New in the box 2.5" 66-1

Just acquired 66-1 pinned and recessed and unfired since it left S&W. Even found a few stainless steel shavings in the box....Anyone know the approximate date? .....86K817X

Great acquisition!
One of S&W's best all-around revolvers, IMHO.

A long time member of this forum saw my post where I said I was looking for a nice 2.5" 66..... he offered the revolver and I paid his asking price. A good deal for both..... if he wants to come forward and comment, he will. Otherwise, I will respect his privacy.

Thanks for the quick response...enjoy that beauty. I have one just like it except for the fact that mine has been fired and it has some minor handling marks.

Very nice! My 66-1 is one of my favorite revolvers however as a former SO/PD issue it is far from unfired and pristine.

Mine must be a late -1 as it is recessed but not pinned and the original stocks are long gone.

An 86K serial number should be from about the later half of 1980.

IMO those S&W factory K/L RB Target grips(aka bananas)are far nicer and superior to any plain vanilla magnas and worth a lot more.

That is one revolver you can't go wrong getting. As said above, one of S&W's best models.
