unique Smith Model 10
I came across a unique model 10
The Smith Wesson model 10 has Arabic writing on one side not sure what it says looks like a few letters
It comes with a letter from smith Wesson dated from 1977 letter states it was meant for export but got shipped by mistake to a dealer shipped out in 1970
What do you all think the value of this might be its hard to compare it
I would rate the gun in 70 to 75%

In just 70/75% condition, I would think minimum to no extra value.

"Unique": Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else. This gun isn't!
Look in the yoke cut and I will bet it is marked 10-6. The 10-6 when chambered for .357 Magnum was the precurser to the .357 Magnum Model 13 series. There were at least several hundred Model 10-6 revolvers issued in .357 Magnum.

Yes the .357 is a model 10-6 but the letter I have from smith wesson states it was shipped only to New York State Police so regardless how many were made its a unique gun how many do you own or have seen, here in Florida this is the only one I have seen
But using the word unique is like using the word soda or pop

Curious considering the language of Iran is Farsi (not that I'd be able to tell them apart)

I am happy you are more of an expert on the English Language than Merriam Webster or the OED!

Welcome to the Forum Telh74, its always fun researching a vintage gun. It’s also cool finding out about the history. Makes me wonder what the PD thought when they logged that one in with Arabic writing on it?

Sometimes folks get a little passionate defining words like scarce, rare and unique when it comes to the otherwise pleasant pastime of Smith & Wesson collecting. We all know what you meant. Welcome to the forum. You’ll find it a generally friendly place. Good shootin’,
Doug

I have one that may be even a little more "unique" or at least unusual than that.
It is stamped as a 13-1 - but you can see that it was originally stamped 10-6 and the new 13-1 stamping was struck over the top of the original 10-6 marking.
I'm betting there aren't many like that. So far I've never seen anyone post about another one - or at least not that I can recall.
So maybe it truly is unique

Is it by chance a High Standard 18-7? I bought one new in the early '70s but later traded it off for a Rem. 870. I now have another one that I got from a friend a few years ago.

Wouldn't a one-of-a-kind serial# technically be "unique"?

The problem is that you are trying to nail down something that firstly, has no specific market value because there aren’t enough of thus-marked guns changing hands, and secondly, there isn’t even a consensus whether writing on the gun like that enhances or detracts from the value.
So all you can do is take the common price for a Model 10 in the general condition you describe, likely somewhere in the 300s, and if the owner values the inscribed gun higher than that, you decide how much you personally are willing to pay more to have a somewhat uncommon specimen. Absent an objective scale or “market value”, nobody here can decide that for you.
