Question about Mod. 17 with 8 3/8 bbl
I am desiring a Model 17 with the long bbl. Don't know why? What kind of price would I be looking at for a -3 with the box in used but very nice condition. I have a 14 long bbl and want a brother for it, but have not seen any for sale. Can I afford one? Thanks for the response in advance. Ken

A 17-3 long tube, 95% condition, no box or docs just sold on GB for $760.00 You can check their completed auctions to get more accurate info. Problem is those long tubes seldom come up for sale.

model 17 long bbl
WOW. Didn't expect that much $ for no box one. I would have thought they would be a little less since they are a "nitch" type item. I guess I'll have to pay up for one with the box and stuff. Thanks for the response. Ken

I understand. Not long ago I picked up a LNIB 8-3/8" M-14. And, ever since I have been thinking I need a 8-3/8" K-22/M-17 to compliment it.

Where I shop $700-$800 would be about the lowest price I'd expect to find for one with the box, correct stocks, in 95% or better condition. Frankly, I'd expect the asking price to be higher than that with box/papers. The trick will be to find one for sale. Bought a 8 3/8 48-3 a couple weeks ago for $730 OTD (no box) and while it is not the same gun it is close. Good luck.

I did a trade for one in Tulsa 2 weeks ago, he had his marked $1100, no box. It is like new and I love it. Shoots like a rifle as they say. I would expect a nice one to run $900 - $1000.

I have many wheelguns, but the one that goes every trip is the 8 3/8" model 17 with target stocks.
I wouldn't call it a niche gun. I would call it a Cult gun because of the dedicated following it has.

I've got a17-3 w/ 8 3/8" that's scoped for hunting and I would like another one to go with it , but prices are higher then I prefer to pay . My dealer friends don't want to send to private individuals, so it's harder find the long tubes for 700 or less . Of course I paid a pretty price for my pre -18 but I really wanted it which could happen again .
