Just picked up a grail gun for me a 29-2 6.5
Hey guys, its been awhile since I posted here. I'm on deployment and was browsing 1911 Addicts and this came up and I had to have it.
It's a 1977-1978 29-2 in excellent condition. It is the Dirty Harry length of 6.5 inches. I think I over paid for it, but didn't really care. Sadly it did not have any of the box or paperwork. Wear looks non existant, barley a drag line on the cylinder. This is a nice addition to my S&W collection, I own a 15-3, 686 No Dash, 629-1 Classic Hunter, 1006 and a R8.
I paid 1400 shipped for it, thought screw it.

Congrats! That's a beautiful gun! 29's are addicting. I started with a 4" blue, then uh somehow got a 4" nickel, 6" blue, 6" Nickel, 6-1/2" blue, and 8-3/8ths blue....like I said they are addicting.

I had one for ages, then foolishly traded for a 29-3 6" plus a Walther I had my eye on...thought "Oh, it'll practically be the same..." :/
Enjoy it and keep it, price regardless!

That's a nice looking gun!
I know there was a lot of those guns produced over the years, but finding them in that condition isn't getting any easier.
With a little bit of care you'll get a lifetime of enjoyment out of it.

Congratulations! I also recently found the elusive blued, 6.5" Model 29-2.

Very nice .44! Finally getting a grail gun is always a great feeling.

Thanks guys, excited to get it. I have a 629-1 Classic Hunter so this will pair nicely with that. Just going to stick to regular 240 Grain loads on this one.

She's definitely a "LOOKER"!
My 1st 29 came to me last November. Dash 3 though. The end of April, I traded into a nickel -2. At 65 it is my 1st nickel (& ported) gun. Have not shot it yet. Enjoy your 29! Bob

the condition looks excellent. Tell you the truth,you will be hard pressed to pay a lot less than you did and prices for 29s are not coming down. Believe me, you did ok and don't have to worry about finding one anymore.
