Default Terrier

I have a near-mint Terrier w/box that I am very unhappily going to have to sell. I say near-mint because that is what the piece is except for the sideplate where some moron has scratched, apparently with a vibrating pencil, his social security number. The numbers are very shallow but legible. I am wondering if I should try to have the numbers polished out and re-blue the sideplate, see if I can find a sideplate for replacement and have a 'smith fit it, or sell the unit as is. If anyone has any suggestions based on their actual experiences I would appreciate their comments.

Post pictures of the marks and the gun as a whole and you can get a more informed response.

See if you can find a replacement sideplate.

I also have a Terrier although not NIB. Little underbite but I wouldn’t change a thing.
