Finally arrived
Picked up my new to me 18-3 6K serial today. Purchased it on a whim because it had the TT and TH. Cost was $795 out the door and included a period correct box and documents, but no tools. I was a sucker, took the chance and it exceeded my expectations
I always said my 4" combat magnum was the last one I would get rid of but now I believe this 18-3 will take its place
I have several targets stocks but I think this 18 looks best with its original stocks. Kinda makes me wonder why someone would order a K frame with TT, TH and regular stocks. I believe it to be original.
I did notice what I believe to be a proof mark, has anyone encountered a proof mark like this? My 17-2 and 17-1 have no proof marks. This is my first mod 18 and seller did not indicate it had a proof mark.

I don't know about the proof mark, but that sure is a nice looking revolver! Earl

I can't make out the proof mark, any chance of a closer image?
However that is one beautiful revolver, congrats and thanks for sharing.

Nice catch. I always value the target hammers and triggers.

I doubt they did. Lots of them came that way. It didn't require a special order.

Very nice revolver. Maybe the purchaser had small hands. As much as I like target grips, to me, the magnas look "right" on 4" K frames. I have magnas on a 27-2 that I shoot a lot and I like them there too.

I agree with all the above, really a great buy and it looks flawless. I have a nice 18 too but sorry to say without target trigger or hammer. The grips were a bit too small so I replaced them with a pair of Ahrends. I also have to agree with Robert, S&W target grips are great too.

Here is a little closer picture of what I believe to be a proof mark.

No offense intended to this fine revolver, but judging from some of the other fine marks around it, that looks a mark that is proof that someone bumped it against something harder than it is. I'd call it a beauty mark.

Congratulations 00Buck2 on your acquisition of a beautiful Model 18-3! I found one of these last December, also a 6K serial series, and also with TT and TH. Here's a link to my original post. I found a Model 18-3 today!
I have since replaced the stocks with a new set which I acquired from forum member Masterbuck54. I happen to like target size stocks on my K and N frame guns.

Like you, my Model 18 has become my favorite S&W Revolver! Enjoy your new Model 18!

Wow that would have taken a lot of pressure to put a perfect triangle in the metal and leave no marks around it or bluing loss.
I will chalk it up to a beauty mark as I can't explain it either.
