Default Quest is over for an M28 with 6” barrel.

After owning and shooting (a lot) a 28 / 4” for a few months, I’ve had my sights on a 6”.

Just closed a deal on this 28-2 circa 1968. Diamond targets and in seemingly excellent condition. No box or tools/paperwork but no concern as this is strictly a shooter for me.

These are seller’s great pics, can’t wait to put my hands on it!

Congratulations on a good looking 1! You are sure to enjoy it. My only 28 is a little earlier. (no dash 1960)

Pumped as this will spend some time in the deer woods this fall. Will shoot a ton and hope to feel comfortable to 50 yards. Report to come ......

Very nice find. One thing I would note is be careful with that trigger shoe mounted. It may cause safety issues if carried in a tight fitting holster.

Agree on the shoe. I’ll at least try it but it’ll likely not stay.

Great looking revolver if it shoots as good as it looks I feel sorry for any deer you run across out to 50 yards as you will easily get pproficent to that range. Congratulations.

That is a sweet 28! I had a 28-2 and a 28 ND, but ended up only keeping the ND, as it's the same age as me. Your's should still be an S serial 28-2, as mine was a '69, which I think was the last year of the S's, before they started with "N". I like the 6" barrel myself, they balance so well with a fully loaded cylinder. Mine had factory numbered magnas, but I don't shoot them all that well. When looking for targets like yours for mine, I ran across some S&W rosewood grips that fit my hand much better.

Congratulations of finding such a nice one!

Congrats on a great snag. I just bought my first 28-2 with a 4" barrel & it's a joy to shoot. I might just have to put a 6"er on my list.

As mentioned, I shoot my relatively new 4" a LOT. I've also introduced a few new revolver shooters to it and the response is always "love that gun". The natural progression is to add the 6"! Lots of enablers here!
