Wandered into my LGS last week and discovered two orphens looking for a home. I probably overpaid, but I did so well on my little 5 screw masterpiece last time, I felt lucky.
The first was an unfired (I checked with a jewelers loup) 4" model 29 no dash s/n N860XXX, with original box and tool kit. finish is 99% It is gorgeous! The other is a 5 screw , 6" model 48, no dash, in 22 WMR. s/n K386XXX, mechanically perfect, finish is 80%.
Paid $2200 for both on the spot. Any idea how old these are? Was I foolish? Can't send picks untill they complete DROS( I live in the "Peoples Republic").

Foolish? No. Good price? Yes, very fair from a shop.

The 29 should be a dash 2
To me it would be on the high side but I don't live in California. From what I hear though you did just fine especially in finding them.

Sounds like some good uns...check your 29 a bit closer though with that S# it would have to be a late -2. The guns would sell for more than that here in Texas. I've noticed some crazy prices for 48's which is why I don't have one. If I'm paying more than $1k for a pistol it will be an N frame. Earl

Got to admit that I haven't pulled off the grips on the 48 yet. Only could see 4 of them, but it did look like my 1953 5 screw 22 lr masterpiece(pre model17, pre K22)
