I just received by way of inheritance a 1970 ish 10-5, 5 inch 38sp
It is in great shape,and grips are numbered to the gun,D253xx.

Also there is 3 letters on the inside of the right hand grip, KPC.
These are impressed into the wood same as the serial number. There are no markings on the frame of the gun with respect to these letters.

Any ideas what they could stand for? no box or papers.

Are they square butt magnas with the rounded edges across the bottom (not flat bottoms)

I'm thinking they are K-frame Plain Clothes magnas (KPC).

On these forums we love photos.

Without photos I would only guess that the grips are K frame plain clothes magna service grips thus KPC.

S&W catalog markings on K frame target grips I've owned had KTWAL denoting K frame target Walnut
