Default Model 15-3 date 1970?

Appears unfired ,but no box. 3K39100. Very well made and finished. I remember the Jet Jockeys wearing these back in the day.

Nice. I bought a 15-3 (1974) at a local auction about 3 years ago on a bid of $575. Felt I paid market price for it but it was a nice one. What kind of prices are they bringing these days?

I rarely see clean Model 15's. Two weeks ago I saw this at a gun show and had to have it. The fact that it was a 6" was icing on the cake.

I guess I bought mine, a -2, four or five years ago, private sale. I paid $400.00 for it, but I see them for more now regularly.

I bought it mostly because of the diamond target stocks, and thought at the time I was overpaying.

Good find. There’s a reason they’re called Combat Masterpiece. Pretty much the epitome of S&W revolver design. Everything since has just been a variation on the theme. Good shootin’,

My 1970 15-3 was bought unfired, no box or goodies, from an estate consignment several years ago. I say "was" because my son and his boys own it now--didn't see why they should have to wait till I croak.

Sweetest handgun, revolver or automatic, I ever shot, much less owned. The trigger was pure magic.

I carried one for years as my issued revolver and there is no finer .38 out there. Had to use it to shoot a hostage taker in a hotel lobby, and free the hostage, when I was a patrol sergeant. I was especially thankful for those big adjustable sights.

Love the Combat Masterpiece.
In 2017, I was fortunate enough to buy a pristine 15-4 with original box and papers (no tools) for $400 off of GunBroker. My wife and I took it to the range and it shot too well. "Too well" to mean my wife declared it as her revolver!! She had me put on faux pearl grips because wanted it to look more feminine and pretty.

S&W Model 15-4 "Combat Masterpiece" in 38 Special.

Thanks for looking at my wife's Combat Masterpiece.

God bless,
Birdgun

As I commented a few months ago,
too may people, meaning Smith forum
members, are buying Model 15s.

Wise up, don't bother, go get yourselves
a brace of Model 19s. Let the Model
15s in the market languish.

(Hopefully, then, the primo Model 15s will
collect dust at $350 a piece. )

I have seen, held, and owned many Smith's over the years but your 4" Model 15 just might be the most beautiful pistol I have ever laid my eyes on. And for $400 no less, if only I could stumble upon a deal like that!

I prefer the M15 for shooting 38specials. The M19 with its long 357 mag chambers lead up and are a pain to keep clean. I shoot a S.W.C. 158 at 875 fps.
