Actually Model 57 production began in 1964

Your serial number dates to late 1979 or sometime in 1980

The 41 Magnum is a beloved cartridge here on the Forum.

It does not matter what model of 57/357/657 family that you own, they all shoot great

You will find many of us that own, shoot, admire and load for this fine family of firearms.

That is awesome you found the receipt. I have a Model 29 with a N605XXX serial number, and guessed it as 1978 or early 1979, and this receipt pretty much proves that point.

Since I graduated in 1978, and it is a thousand below yours, I’ll tell myself it squeaked in being built in the last of 1978, like December - although it was probably early 1979. Either one is good.

Congratulations on finding such a fine revolver. .41 Magnum is a great cartridge!
