Model 60 Stamped -0 Over -1
Or vice versa.....
Anyone heard of this? A quick internet searched produced an auction in 2015 where someone claimed it was a factory mistake during a run of Model 60's with adjustable sights. They noticed the mistake and over stamped the -1 with a -0. Gun looks to be in good shape. Barrel isn't pinned and no diamond grips. I haven't seen pics of the over stamp yet. Curious as to value. The 2015 gun sold for $400.
TIA.

Not common but can happen on any model, and does.

I'd be curious about whether or not that "0" was factory-stamped. Doesn't look like the other numbers.

Looks like factory same as others I've seen.
Recognize that the "Mod 60-1" is all one gang stamp. The individual numeric stamps will not match those digits.

From the photo and description, the frame was probably intended for one of the 2" model 60-1 Targets from about 1985, then was built into a fixed sight gun and overstamped with the 0 over the 1. Another example of S & W not wasting any perfectly good parts.

From a value standpoint or possibly a collector standpoint, does this add value to the gun or is it just another $400 model 60?
