Combat Masterpiece & Combat Magnum
Photo below shows my Combat Magnum (model 19) on top
and Combat Masterpiece (model 67) below.
Holsters, made by Lawrence for example, are size 549 for the
Magnum and 526 for the Masterpiece. The Masterpiece will go
in the Magnum holster, but just a little bit loose. The Magnum
will go in the Masterpiece holster, but just a little tight.
Only difference discernable with naked eye and ruler is length
of cylinder. Magnum about 1/8th longer. Standard Catalog
of S&W notes that the Magnum is slightly larger in the yoke
area. It may be, but I can't see where.
Please educate me on this small size difference. Thank you.

Combat Masterpiece & Combat Magnum
The "across the room" difference is the shrouded ejector rod. I don't know that I could identify the small size difference you speak of on a bet.

That (the shroud) might just be the slight difference in the yoke
area that the Standard Catalog referred to. I didn't even notice
it. Thanks.

Your Model 19 is particularly interesting. Could you advise the Model number and "-" stamped in the yoke, if any? I noted what looked like a "Call" gold bead on a patridge front sight. I'm no SME on Smith revolvers, but the late cylinder release latch coupled with the front sight makes it interesting, at least to me.
Great set of revolvers!
TIA.

I sent it back to S&W about 10 years ago for a tune up and
asked them to put the McGivern gold bead on the front while
they had it.
Mod 19-4 63k5831 I got it new back in the 70s. Can't remember
exactly when.

Hey Bird...every time you show your 15-4 I am overcome with these intense feelings that I can only describe as "insane jealousy". That is a stunning revolver.

I don't think anyone actually answered your question, photos, etc. notwithstanding. There are several very minor differences, but the two major ones that cause these two guns to need different holsters are: M-19 barrel is larger in diameter and straight, and it has the extractor rod shroud on it. The M-15 barrel is thinner and tapered. These are why the M-15 is loose in the M-19 holster and the M-19 is tight in the M-15 holster.
The only real difference in the "Yoke area" is a difference in shape so the extractor shroud mates up to the frame instead of having a gap as it would on the M-15 and other K-Frames.
