Model 28 6"
A friend recently purchased a 6" Model 28.
At first I thought it was a Model 27 as the blue finish is like a Model 27 The revolver looks brand new.
Opinions ?

Hi Jimmy,
They are great revolvers. It's a N frame S&W, after all. I'd like to find one as a carry piece when hunting.

Model 28-2 HP
There's no law stating that a Model 28 can't look good.

Agreed. I have a 6 inch Model 28-2 that is a bit more refined than my other Highway Patrolman. Noticed a lot of variation in polish and overall finish.

D Brown....did your come from the factory with smooth target grips?
I am fairly certain that the smooth targets on mine are replacement grips. Seems like an odd thing to do to a Model 28-2. Also, mine show more wear than the rest of the gun.

My Smooth Targets came directly from Masterbuck54 actually. That Model 28-2 is an un-fired, except by the factory, 1975-77 model, and originally came with Magna Stocks.

I've seen Model 28's with finishes about as good as S&W's basic blue service finish.
All Model 28's are equal. But some are more equal than others.
And I've seen M-27's that weren't as bright as they should have been.
