Default Model 10-5 and Stock ID

I picked-up this nickled 10-5 today. Serial D516837.

It's not factory nickled but it's tight and smooth....And I got it cheap.

The Magna-style stocks are some sort of dense hardwood with what looks like a bird flying over a mountain.

Any idea who made the stocks?

Probably 1973.

I've seen those stock medallions before, but cannot recall who made them. Not S&W, of course.

A friend says he thought he remembered seeing a set like that in a bag with a .gov DA stock number on it.

I looked but could not find such a example for a set of .gov replacement stocks and the stocks do not have a DA number stamped on them anywhere.

I suspect he was mistaken as it would seem to me S&W would have provided replacement stocks to the .gov if needed.

Edit: They are just Sile stocks....The bird is supposed to be a Maltese Falcon.
