Speedloaders for 18-2
I got a HKS K-22 speedloader for my 18-2. It works OK but not the best. What are others using?
Thanks!

Speedloaders for Smith 22s just don't seem to work well. Between the variations in shells and the general tightness of chambers in Smith revolvers they just don't operate like centerfire sheedloaders. Just the nature of the beast. I bought HKS loaders for both J and K frames. Waste of my money.

I don't think I've ever seen a K-22 speedloader made by anybody other than HKS. I've got a couple, but don't bother to use them.

Believe it or not, I've found that the HKS "J" frame 22 speed-loaders (HKS-22J) actually load better in my early 6 round K framed K22 Outdoorsman and mod 17. The smaller diameter load pattern starts the noses of the bullets more precisely and with less slop.
That said, Speed Beez makes a much improved .22 speed loader over the HKS. ( I have and use one of their 8 rounders in my new 63) It holds the rounds much more securely. They do make one for the 6 round K22 according to their website. A little pricey but you only need one if you get a loading block with it.
Last I checked, DS speed did not make a 6 rounder but It's been a while since I looked. Perhaps he will weight in here.

I just never understood the need for a speed loader for a .22 revolver. Unless the chipmunks are counter attacking

At the range were I shoot they are helpful in not having to carry loose rnds in your pocket to hand load while down range.
