Default 12-2

Going through the zip cases and this one turned up.
A 12-2 pinned barrel 5 digit serial with D16 in a different-size font under the serial number. Some odd worn spots on the cylinder right behind all the grooves. Maybe holster wear? No turn-ring on the cylinder, just those odd worn places. Probably sell it when I figure out what it's worth.

We need more information. 2" or 4"? Round butt or square butt? Most likely if it was nickel plated you would have written that but make it clear.

Apparently you are giving us the assembly or fitter's number rather than the serial number. The serial number is on the bottom of the grip frame.

My understanding is not to shoot +P in a Model 12?? I do not know if this means not even a cylinder or several rounds?? I do like the revolver and this is just a learning post for me.Thanks.

It has an alloy frame so a +P would not be a good idea. Mine shoots okay and is a lot of fun at the range. A 12-2 that shipped 11/71

Oh yeah. I would not be selling a 12.... Unless I was broke. But to each his own.

Sorry forgot to say it has a 2" barrel. My kid(s) have threated to disown me after I die if I don't thin the herd a bit. Actually I think the threat was more along the lines of they'll just burn the house down, heh, heh.
Ah, the joys of chillin's - and collecting bangsticks (Class I and III) for fifty years...

I have a 12-2 in like new condition. i have never shot it and am a bit scared to since I have heard about cracked frames etc. Nice little revolver. I also hear they are prone to excessive finish wear if you carry them.

Default 50 years of collecting!

I'm up for adoption. I promise I will not disown you at inheritance time.

The problem with asking what a model 12 is worth is you get a lot of answers from members who do not want one. To help decide whether to buy a 4" square butt that was in a local store I ran a thread with a poll asking if Model 12s were worth more or less that Model 10s in the same condition. Half the posts wrote that as long as they could get a Model 10 they would never choose a Model 12 so a 12 would be worth very little to them. What you are after is how much buyers who are seeking a Model 12 have to pay for one. Mine was in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition and had scarcely been fired if at all. I paid the store $525 out the door. The prevailing opinion in my thread was that was a high price but since buying it I have not run across another l liked as well. The snubs seem to be more common but it appears more people want them.
