Mod 66 no dash DOB and price check
I purchased the following Model 66 no dash from the local Cabelas Gun Room this past weekend. They had it priced at $999.99 but I got them down to $850.00. There is no box or papers with it. Lock up is very solid. The orange insert is a little loose so I know I will be doing a replacement kit from brownells at some point in the future. Grips are in good pretty good shape but I will be taking those off to save and put on new factory grips for daily use.
Serial number: 6K63985 (I am guessing around 1974 but I think this serial number is actually not listed for the no dash....I am by no means an expert)
I have always wanted this gun and it will be added to my daily carry rotation.
Now I need more!!

Nice early 2.5" M66! Like how the top strap tapers down at the barrel like on a square butt frame and the gas ring is still on the cylinder. By 6K67xxx it was on the yoke.
Almost all of the earliest 2.5" 66's shipped in October, 1975

Serial number 6K63985 was issued in 1975. The dash one was introduced in 1977. So, your serial number certainly fits into an appropriate range for the Model 66. The 2 1/2" barrels started in 1974.

for what it's worth
You didn't ask but I gotta tell ya, for me, the early K frame snubby's are hard to beat. I have other mdls w/ other barrel lengths that I like to shoot. But these are just the most fun to have.
Thanks for sharing.
(I sometimes clean 'em up when they don't need to be )

$850 would be a little high around here, but they aren't making them like that anymore. If I wanted it, I would pay the $850. If it's a grail gun for you then I say go ahead. Let's say you looked around for a year and found one for $800, what did you really save.

I like the way you think!
I also like the gun so much I really don't think I will be able to stop at just one!

Same Question Gentlemen
I found this forum recently as I was taking inventory of the gun safe and decluttering. I also have a 66 SS 4" barrel, 1975 vintage I believe, with the box. I just returned from a gun show here in Washington State and got no information. Can anyone put a round number value to this piece. thanks.

I can't seem to post a couple of pictures, some advice please.
