Default Model 57

Can you guys help me figure out what I have? It is a 6” Blue model 57, serial number is N 634xxx. I’d like to know as much as I can about it, including the value. The front site is missing the red piece, and there is a small chip in the grip

A picture would be very helpful.

Yours probably went out the door in 1980. Assuming no other huge issues I don't see why it wouldn't be worth $700-$800.

Welcome to the Forum

As hkcavalier says a picture would help, with out that or at least a beter verbal description we can only guess

Shooter grade revolvers in fair to poor condition can be found in the $500 or less area.

Pristine examples with the box, paperwork and tools will easily go over the $1000 mark

Where you are located could also influence the price. Guns that are already in California sell for 10%-25% higher than gins in the FREE States

You mention that the grip is chipped and the red insert has been knocked out of the front sight. With that as the only description of condition to go by, I would be led to presume that your revolver has seen some abuse and would place it's value in the low side of the price range . . . $500-$600

That is a great start.

If the other side looks about the same I would put that revolver in the $700 or up category

Yeah, based on the first post I didn't expect a 3T with great bluing. A new insert, a new set of targets, and voilà a $1000+ gun.

I bought this gun back in 1990 at a gun show, shot it for a while, and worked up some great hand loads. After starting a family I didn't have much time to shoot, and it sat in the safe unused for a long time. Great gun to shoot!

The revolver looks Great

Many of us here on the Forum are BIG 41 Magnum enthusiasts

The 41 Magnum and hand loading go together. That is the only way to get variety

That's a good looking 57. I used to have all three barrel lengths in nickel but I'm down to a 4 inch, a blue 6 inch like yours and a 58. I do like to shoot the 41 mag. and I'm a fool for fixed sight magnums, like the 58. Enjoy that revolver. The red ramp should not be a big deal to fix.

Nice one .
You need to take her out dancing...neglecting a sweet thing like that is almost criminal.
Me and my model 58 are hitting the range tomorrow.
