19-3 slight Corrosion under the Pach Grips
I recently joined the Forum after purchasing a 19-3 at a gun show.
I've shot it, I love it.
Following suggestions here, I removed the Pachmeyer Grips and indeed found some very light corrosion.
I gently rubbed a bit away and will oil it some.
Any suggestions from members with similar levels of corrosion?
Pictures attached.

You don't say what you rubbed with, but a little more effort may remove some of the rest. I suggest a liberal application of Kroil (a highly penetrative oil available at some gun shops or auto parts stores or the Internet) and lightly rubbing with copper wool (try a wood finishing source). Do not use steel wool. Looks like there may be some actual pitting which will not go away, but you can stop the rust.

I was successful removing some surface rust on an old BSA Martini rifle with a small bit of 0000 steel wool completely saturated with oil.

Rub on the rust with Pre 64 all copper penny. "Wheat-penny". Use the smooth edge. It doesn't scratch and won't rub the blueing off. A little oil will help.

That would be fine, but I actually found copper wool.

0000-grade steel wool will remove minor surface rust from blued steel surfaces without damaging the bluing. I recommend using it dry, then oiling the surfaces after the oxidation has been removed.

It would not fix anything, but would hide some of it....... S&W Target Stocks. Just a thought. Bob

For removing light surface rust I find Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and Rust Remover to be excellent . An extremely fine liquid abrasive that will polish off the rust and leave the bluing unharmed.
After rust removal , under the grips, two coats of a pure Carnauba paste wax like Mother's California Gold , will help protect it.
Actually you can wax the entire gun and it will look excellent .
