OCSD Model 66-1?
Stamped OCSD. Assume Sheriff's Department for a county starting with O. No such county in the state where is now located so it has traveled.
Any knowledge of 66-1s with an S.D. in O county?

Do you know for a fact they used the 66-1 or are you just guessing at the OCSD? There are 6 Orange Counties in America and many other counties starting with O. Hoping someone has specific knowledge of 66-1 use with one of them. Long shot for sure.

Other possibilities include Florida counties Okaloosa, Okeechobee, and Osceola, as well as Orange.
Just guessing at the OCSD.

I'm a little late to this thread, as I just found it.
Orange Co. Sheriffs' Dept. in CA issued Model 15's and 19's to Patrol/Jails and stainless 4" guns to the Harbor Patrol. I think these were model 66's. OCSD also marked some of their guns "OCSD".
In the late 90's, these guns were sold off to Deputies, as eventually revolvers were no longer authorized for duty carry. This could have been bought by a Deputy as a personal weapon who later retired to your neck of the woods.
Also at some time I believe in the 80's, the OCSD's Armory was broken into and guns were stolen. I'm not sure what ever happened to these guns?
I'm sure a letter to S&W would tell the story.
Guns in CA are also registered, so it could come back as either stolen (if lost in the armory break in), or registered to someone who bought it legally from the Dept.

This may be of some help in trying to narrow down the agency, in my experience Florida Sheriff's like to use the term "Office" instead of "Department"
They are quick to point out "Police Department" or "Sheriff's Office."
Good Luck!

There is an "Oconee County" in both GA and SC. As I live in Oconee County SC, I can tell you it didn't come from here.
That letter will help with this.

Which coast?
There is an Onondaga County Sheriff's Dept in NY State near Syracuse that is a possibility. I used to have a contact who once worked there, and I know they used S&W, but he's long retired. Maybe a call or e-mail could provide more info.
Onondaga County Sheriff's Office
