Default Model 67-1

I was at my local pawn shop this morning and they offered me a 67-1 Combat Masterpiece for $300.00 OTD they had just forfeited.

Sadly it had UM's rubber grips on it.

Serial 220K703.

Any Idea when it was made?

Great price by the way

Serial should put it around 1982

That is a great price especially for the condition it appears to be in.
My 67 no dash, shown here, was much worse looking when I bought
it, but I bead blasted it and cleaned it up.
BTW there is absolutely nothing wrong with those Butler Creek stocks.
They were designed by Craig Spegel and marketed by Michaels. I
prefer black stocks on silver (color) guns, and they absorb the recoil
very well.

Nothing to be sad about on that deal!
Grab some non-diamond Magnas cheap if you want the original look.
Great catch.

Thanks for the info Grimjaws.

I'm not so much bothered about the original look. I just don't like rubber grips....****bber grips with finger grooves in particular

I have a set of square bottom Magnas already I could put on it if I want but I'm not all that fond of them either.

To be honest I'd like a set of the old Jay Scott black pearl grips if I can find a set.

At least the UMs are selling for good money.

The Jay Scott black "pearl" grips are pretty slick if you have to look for a villain on a hot August night...I'd keep those Uncle Mike's, among the best revolver grips, ever.

But it's your gun.

If it's in nice shape, you got a terrific deal for $300!

Just try to find a good home for the UM grips. Some will pay a pretty fair sum for a set now that they're discontinued.

Great deal on that 1! I paid $395 for my 67 no dash some years back. They are good guns. I like Herrett Target stocks on them, but everyone is different. Bob

Great snag you got there. Reminds me of my very first S&W revolver purchase a 64-5 I got 2 years ago for $279 with same ugly grips (only mine is round butt). I put some wood targets on it quick as I could. I love shooting it because it is my only one with fixed sights. I am sure you get plenty of enjoyment out of your 67.

Did you have a mask on at the time of "purchase"?

Splendid revolver at a damn good price. I'd love to have a 67 or 64 as a head-of-the-bed house gun.

Hey, they offered it to me. I don't suspect they gave much for it.

People are strange, a guy came in the shop the other day and put up a Kimber .45 of some flavor for a $40.00 loan.

Now if that guy does not come back to pay on his loan (and the gun was not stolen) they will have them a Kimber for $40.00.

Unless it had been obviously used as a hammer, I would gladly buy any 67 that I was lucky enough to find for 300 bucks.

I hope some of your luck rubs off on me!

I don't think you would touch that gun for less than $650 around here. That is one of S&Ws best efforts IMHO.
