New Model 15-3 X 2"
A new addition 1975 Model 15-3 2" snubby. It appears unfired except for factory test. Super faint turn line, probably dry firing/cocking a few times. My FFL dealer wanted this bad. I have a 4" just about as pristine. Got to get a 6" for a 2,4,6" collection

A 6" will be a model 14 and will make a great trio.
The rangemaster at my old department recommended to recruits that they buy two Model 15s, one of each length, for duty and off-duty/BUG use. At the time I thought a square-butt, adjustable sight BUG didn't make much sense, but DARN those things can shoot.

You know, I never gave that thought. There was a 6" 15 started in 86, I would have to research the changes. I had a 6" 14 in the mid 70's. Traded it on something, but still have my mid 70's 15, but it is a wild Frankengun now. Should have never gotten rid of my 14 , original 1968 28-2 or my first issue 65

If I recall, the 2 inch 15 is the commercial version of the Model 56 (KTX-38), and it is different from the usual 4 inch Model 15 in that the 4 inch Model 15 has a tapered barrel (later models had the straight wall barrel). So, the 2 inch 15 is really more like a 14, in that the 14s all had straight, rather than tapered barrels. That said, it is a nice revolver. Congratulations!

My Lord that is gorgeous! I absolutely LOVE my Model 15 snubbies. (Yes that IS plural) Very fun and EXTREMELY accurate little wheelgun. They are difficult to find in that condition, do you mind me asking how you came across it?

It was on the forum WTS here. Someone selling several guns and that was one of them. I hesitated to go after it, because of the amount of purchases I have made recently, but one of those purchases was a 73 15-3 in almost the same condition, so I bought it to have both a 2 and 4 inch. There is a 6" started in 86 I believe, but it is not a 15-3. I need to look at that for a 2,4,6, collection. I never owned a snubby, now I have a 60, a faintly used 10-5, and now the 15-3

An important , weird fact about 2" model 15s , is the top strap is built thicker , or taller than that of a 4" model 15 or a model 14.
Because the frame is not tapered on the 2" model 15, many have a 6" model 14 barrel switch, but due to the taller top strap it leaves a step between the frame and the barrel. Doesn't look too bad but easy to tell.
Hence why some folks have seen 6" model 15s. Prior to the HB versions made between 1986 and 89 or so.

Some years ago there was a post about 2" model 15's, and I made the rude comment about it being an unnecessary model, and some guys just have to have every model, and I was off to eat breakfast, posted this photo.
Just an excuse to post it again, they are a cool anachronism.
Always wanted to use that word , even if it isn't correct.
Have fun guys.
