Default Drawing #6 JoesCuba's Dad's Model 10

He is a member over at AR15.com and he always posts the coolest guns. He served our country around the globe and for that I thank him! This was his Dad's gun that he got in a foreign country. You guys might really appreciate this one. According to Joe, that is the finish that was on the gun. I think the implication was that was from the factory. His Dad obtained it in Cuba. Which maybe that means it's older than 1961. When did we stop doing trade with Cuba? I don't know the history. (Quick Google says 1960). So this one is probably older than 61. Ooops, wrong forum.

Rough draft, pre shading. This is one of the coolest Model 10's I've ever seen. Very unique.

I nearly gave up on this one after the first hour. I went through a bunch of eraser. I think I got it close now though.

I think you need to find a place of higher learning nearby and start taking art classes—you have an amazing talent that you should continue to develop.

Everything is rough measurement and my eyeballs. And now that you say it, it does look a little short. LOL. I need to round the end off a bit more too. Looks like I can extend it just a hair too past the front sight. That'll get me closer to your 3/16" ehhehehee.

Thank you for the compliment and the vote of confidence. If my health allows, and money, that might be something to look into at some point.

I wrote off your earlier drawings as too amateur. But this Model 10 is good!

I immediately recognized it as a five-inch M10, although I agree that the barrel is a bit short. This was before I saw the actual gun, and realized it has stag grips.

If it came from Cuba or any Latin American country, it's in terrific shape. Most people there do not care well for their guns. The climate is also hard on them.

You probably know this gun type was used for many years by the RCMP and by police in Detroit and in then-Rhodesia. It's my favorite barrel length for Model 10.

The shape of the hammer and front sight marks this gun as being made after 1955-56.

Who made the spring-blade knife? I think most are German or Italian.

Oh: John Bromfield as The Sheriff of Cochise and as US Marshal, used stag-handled five-inch barreled M-10's on TV.

Texas Star, I am a total amateur. So.... that's why they look like it. Hhehehehe. Just having some fun and trying to do something productive in the midst of health issues. Plus missing shooting. I haven't been since November.

I don't know anything about the gun and knife other than what I posted. It's another forum members on AR15.com. I could ask him where the knife came from.... I've never seen that type of clip...... It's all very interesting stuff. Eh?

I added the knife today. I'm not sure I'm going to do the watch. I'm going to start shading the gun and knife and think about if I want to tackle that watch......

It's done. Still having a hard time getting good pics of the shading. Only way to get the real life shading is for it to be dark overall.....

I need to fix the placement of the screw on the frame. It's too low. Grrrrrr......

There always had to be one critic, and I think we just found out who it is this time

Yes,I'm the critic.
Now I see the drawing from behind the stocks.
Go hold your revolver that way and what do you see?
You see the "bulge" of the back of the cylinder, on each side.
Now go look at your drawing. Just trying to be accurate, that's all.

Hang on now Mrchuck. I didn't criticize your criticism.... that was someone else. I'm all for constructive criticism. I left the barrel length as it was, just cuz I was OK with it, even if it was a hair short. I didn't want to start over on that.

But now I'm not understanding the bulge of the cylinder.... Nor what it has to do with the length of the barrel. You lost me. I only say that because I want to understand what you're saying, but sometimes I'm a little slow.

Anyways... I think he was just meaning it as a joke. About saying there's always one critic. But that was not me. Just to be clear.
