In my neck of the woods a 4” mod 66 will go for $600-700 when things are selling good. Lately nothing seems to be bringing much

The 66-2 revision introduced the non recessed cylinder and non pinned barrel combo so would sell below the 66 and 66-1.

No box docs or stocks puts it in the classic shooter category so perhaps in the $500-$550 neighborhood.

I have a four inch 66-2 bought new for the PD academy back in 1987 that has the nicest trigger of any S&W revolver I own.

Default Model 66-2, what are they worth

I have a Sig. P938, extreme, with two magazines, LNIB, and thought about trading for the model 66-2. I think I got about $500 in it. Also has two sets of grips.

I would not hesitate to trade the Sig, but I am not an auto fan. But for $500 invested you can't go wrong on a Model 66 unless Its just a beater.

1 available at big box store in my area. I've never been able to deal with them cause they are super high end price wise and it is set by corporate algorithm as the story goes.

This is a shooter , maybe a slight notch up, but locks up good, smooth trigger, some abrasive wear at muzzle, like a rough holster or scuffed against concrete or ??.

Anyway, no box, no docs, service stocks, price $699.00 & won't budge. I hit it at 30 days sitting with a $550.00 offer, back again...same offer at 60 days, same again at 90 days. Everytime...no counter offer, not even 5% FFL or ex-military, or senior citizen "discount". Heck I don't care what the seller calls it, but just something off on a high priced gun is usually in order with most sellers, so it is still sitting.

I agree with other posters that the $575 to $600 range is what would interest me. I already have a Model 65 so the only reason to add a 66 is the adjustable sights

I would want to know if this was a retired LEO gun and would pay accordingly. Many 66’s were retired due to endshake and other related issues. Think about how the gun would ride in a open carry type holster and look for wear. Open end holsters would allow the muzzle to contact seatbelts and such which caused wear. Rubber grips are also a good hint that a 66 was a LEO gun.
