Do You have the 22 LR cylinder? You might have better luck dating a supermodel than finding a jet cylinder. Good Luck is Your search.

I have never seen a 22jet cylinder
advertised for sell. Lots of luck
Even a .22 cylinder will be hard
to find it is the same length
as a mod. 19 cylinder I believe

I agree with my two friends about both the cylinder and the supermodel.
I have 11 Model 53's, had some of them 30 years or more. I never seen one for sale. As far as the supermodel, I dumped her when she said "it's your guns or me." Her name was Christie. I named one of my new (Super) Model 53's after her.

Could you maybe elaborate a little on your situation? Does the gun have a cylinder in it at all? Did you buy it with a 22lr cylinder in it? Did you buy it with box? Do you have the inserts that come with it to shoot 22lr? If you have it with a 22lr cylinder at least you can shoot it. Maybe finding a 22mrf cylinder is a lot easier but not sure if that would work in gun? Going to be VERY dificult finding a 22 jet cylinder as everybody said.

Stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't place any large bets on finding one... OTOH, if you have the 22 LR cylinder, it is the right length to have rebored to 22 Jet, unlike a standard K-22 or 22 MRF cylinder which is significantly shorter. Also, if you can find one of the "blank" cylinders Hamilton Bowen sold until fairly recently, I understand that they are long enough... unfortunately he is no longer selling them.

Are you in Alaska? I know one model 53 was recently taken to a local gun shop or two with this same question about obtaining the correct cylinder in 22 Jet.. Wish I could help with that but everything Jet is difficult to find and expensive and you will find to play with it you have to be dedicated to the "cause". Yes, there fun and will blast your ears apart if you do not take proper care of them! Good luck! Kyle

If you are on a quest for a 22 Jet and have a cylinder-less frame, buying a proper (long) 22lr cylinder and having it rebored will be your most straightforward strategy. Regardless of what else you do, the gun will be a “put-together” example, so if you use an altered cylinder, you’ll be about as well off as any other way you could go. Regardless, good luck on that.

My model 53 had the 22LR cyl in it when I purchased. I have seen 22 mag cylinders but they were cut from a 22lr Cyl ..I Saw for sale a SUPER JET with reloading dies, it is a jet cyl. that was re-cut to make the round more like a rifle round (FAST TAPER) helps with ejecting it was priced almost $3000, Last 22 Jet cyl's I saw were one on Ebay 1 sold for-$130 (Missed it) and another on G.Broker selling with all parts except frame and grips for over $500.(Out bid)..I have one on the line I shall see later today if it comes true.. I load and shoot my jet all the time, I Cut a lee 223 Factory crimp die to use on the jet reloads, they stay put now... I have some standard hammers in stock, along with a firing pin for rim fire.

The jet Cyl 's are 1.850 long NO other 22 cylinder mfg by S&W is that long so ONLY a jet will work..
I know a guy that cut the front off a 22 cyl. welded it to a standard K frame 22 cyl .

… Hi, jacala:
Here are photos of a jet cylinder using a mirror to show both ends. Go to the internet and call up Smith & Wesson model 53 to see the whole set-up of this unusual revolver.

For those who have never examined a Model 53, this photo should give you an idea of what was involved.
