Default Date Inherited Airweight 38 Revolver

Trying to date a S&W I inherited. 38 revolver. Inside the yoke says Mod 37. Says 244x1 also. Serial number is 1J28014. Has a hammer.

The “floating J” serial number dates this firearm around 1983.

It would date to 1983 . . . just prior to the factory's conversion to the three-alpha + four numeric s/n format.

They're great revolvers . . . enjoy,

Russ

Nice! Add a Tyler T grip and the gun will be ready for work. Enjoy!
