WTK: REFINISHING S&W REVOLVERS
How do I get a S&W Factory Refinished? Does the Factory still do this? Are there any other dependable sources of a proper refinish?

You start here,
Smith & Wesson Customer service: 1 (800) 331-0852, they do nice work and will check out your gun before returning it.

If it's like mine expect a $45 range test and evaluation fee. And return shipping to you is $13 and change. IIRC matte blue (but it's more black than blue IMHO) is $170 and polished blue (but I've not seen one) is $220.
Here's a photo of a new matte finish.

Here you go:
Performance Center(R) Precision Gunsmithing | Smith & Wesson
I agree the current bluing is more blackish than the older version, and the result will depend on how well-polished the gun is to start (meaning a gun that needs little metal polishing will turn out looking nicer than one that needs extensive work to make it shiny).
