17-3
I purchased a 17-3, however this gun came with magna grips and no target trigger or hammer. Comparing the single and double action pull to my K-38 the trigger is horrible. Are these the same gun as far as the action? I expected the action and hammer trigger to be the same as my K-38. Seller said it had target trigger and hammer, but was no help.

Can you post some photos? The action should be very similar to your K-38, they're both K-Frame Target Masterpieces.

17-3
No, no way to post pictures. However it is exactly as I described, looks like the K-38 except for the 3T's, and the action is terrible compared to the K-38.

Suppose it's possible that you got a "lemon" but I've shot a dozen or so M17's and the action has always been smooth as silk. And it sounds like you're dealing with a slightly deceptive seller?

The M17, being a 22RF, could have a stiffer action than the K38 due to the need for a "firm" impact of the firing pin to reliably set off a rimfire. What you are feeling is probably a factory trigger, without much breaking in. K 38's, often used in competition, may have had an action job. Also, the age difference may be such that in the 50's standard K38's were "fitted", and subsequently got the benefit of some gunsmithing on the action. A Mod 17-3 could be from as late as 1977, when much less hands on fitting was done. (Age does make a difference).

17-3
Some more info the 14-3 was made in 1971, and has the hammer mounted firing pin. The 17-3 was made in 1973, and has the frame mounted firing pin.
