Default Used French police revolvers at Buds

Buds sent out an email tonight with some M10 and M64 Guns that were obtained from “a small police agency in France.” $269 for the blue guns and $349 for the stainless. AFAIK all are 4” heavy barrel.

I imagine they look pretty bad based on the single photo of each.

I originally posted this in the post-1980 revolver forum but when I looked at the photo it showed a pinned barrel so I decided to post it here as well. If this is like the Victoria guns they had a few years ago it might be a mix of both.

Yes, I did. Short story: it’s marked all over with import/export engraving, and its got what you’d expect for holster wear. Needed a good cleaning. Light surface rust under the rubber grips, but it came off easily. Overall, it’s a great gun with great character, it locks up tight as a drum, and is altogether just a great shooter.

Longer story: It’s a 64-7, so it has the lock (never cared about that), but has a solid bull barrel as opposed to the inserts on the newer 64s. Mine came with Trausch grips, which due to open carry in a duty holster are ugly as sin at least on the right side, but boy are they comfortable. I’m going to switch them out for something I like better, but I’m keeping the grips because they’re so unique and comfortable I’ll probably put them back on from time to time.

When I say “it needed a cleaning,” what I mean is “I’m not sure French cops would know a bottle of CLP if it landed on their heads.” Internals were [I]pretty[I] clean, charge holes looked a few range trips behind on cleaning, barrel looked like it’d been mistaken for an ash tray more than once. Oddly the cylinder face wasn’t too bad as far as black rings, and how that happened I have no idea. Also, funny to mention “ash tray,” since the little lip behind the cylinder (sorry, I’ve forgotten the correct terminology) on the left side had what appeared to be black ash on it. Found the same under the cylinder release. Neither here nor there, except it kind of gave the gun all that much more “character” in my mind. French cop, right handed, smoker, possibly a slob. Maybe I watch too much forensic files but I was proud of myself for noticing. .

Anyway, VERY pleased with the purchase now that it’s cleaned up. This is one I won’t sell, that’s how pleased. For $360 getting exactly what I wanted, I feel like I stole it.

I looked at a few of the model 10s at the Bud’s retail store today. Most of them were post-pinned barrel but pre-frame mounted firing pin. A couple had pinned barrels.

Surface rust was significant on several of them, and one of the pinned guns had a fairly ugly crown as well. Lock up on all of the ones I handled was very solid and the bores looked good as well. All had the rubber beavertail grips.

There were three of the stainless guns in the case as well. Two had regular Pachmayr grips and all had the internal lock.
