Default Model 30 3" up for review

Guys i am wondering about this very presentable model 30 .32s&w long. I would rate it a minty 95%. The seller is asking 750 or so. Is this out of line?

Personally I don’t want one that bad but the price is not far out of line in my area. You can’t buy a ratty S&W 10 here for under $350.00-$400.00.

Standard catalogue of Smith and Wesson 4th edition lists model 30 ANIB at $700. Does seller have the box? Maybe a tad high for a caliber that is obsolete. Dont get me wrong I hear the 32 long is a wonderful shooting cartridge and been on the lookout for a good shooter myself in 32 long but values in 32 seem a little lower than 38 spcl counterparts.

Thanks for the help guys. It does looks nice but may be a hard sale. No box. Just ammo and speed loaders. I wouldn't carry it just plink at the range. I figured around 550 or so. A ratbox model 10 goes 250 300 in the rockies.

OP, Google Broome’s Firearms in Fitzgerald, GA for vintage guns. Not the least expensive dealer in Georgia, but he is a honest man to deal with.

I think $750 is way out of line. I bought a pretty nice mod 31 on GB not
long ago for less than $400.

No box or docs? Even with a couple of speed loaders (about $5-7 each used) and some ammo, I would rate that price at least $200-250 above anything I would even consider. Local prices vary, but that just seems way out of line to me.

Depends on how long you want to look. I just bought a ANIB with everything for $550. If you really want it, I'd lay 6 $100's on the table and see what he said.

It's a super nice looking Model 30-1, and I believe your thought of $550 is sound. Give it a go. What's the worst that can happen?

Nice ....... maybe a bit too nice; but if HP ammo is available that would make a nice carry gun for my wife.......... at $500 or less.

My S&W 31-1’s and 30-1 revolvers. I have owned them a good ten years or so. I don’t think I have much more than $750.00 in the three of them.

A 31-2 I got four years ago from a forum member. I gave this to my grandson.

You see a lot of 30-1 and 31-1 on GB, many listed with starting prices in the $695-895 range. If you wait for ones that start low, you can get them for a lot less. I got two pristine 31-1s last year for about $450 each.

This model with the Square butt was a Law Enforcement model that was very popular in he beginning of the 1900's.
Mine is that type. The 32 long cartridge is ready available at Academy Sports and most others also.
