Default S&W Model 60 Square butt.

Came across a new in box model 60, no dash, blue, pinned Bbl, in the original box, SN 750128. Would like to know the date of Mfg.

If “blue”, most likely a Model 36.

S/N places DOB in 1969 time frame. (My S/N 716xxx dated to late-1968]

Photos are always appreciated.

Assuming it's a 5-shot 38 Special . . . if it's blue (carbon steel) and square butt it cannot be a Model 60. The model number should be stamped in the yoke cutout of the frame and visible with the cylinder open in the format MOD XX.

Beginning in 1965 and ending in 1969 Model 60 serial numbers were in the same serial number range as the Model 36 so, theoretically, circa '68-'69 s/n 750128 could be either . . . but a blue (carbon steel) with square butt could only be a Model 36 . . . or a Model 36-1 if it has a 3" heavy barrel.

Russ

edit: sorry, I am a slow typist . . . was still composing when you clarified it is a Model 36
