Default New to me model 10-8...oh yeah!

I can't believe I was ignorant of the K frames for so long. Got a model 10 and love it!

I wanted to classify in IDPA with a revolver but did not want to use my model 58 or 28-2 for it. I started looking for a inexpensive 4'' revolver and stumbled upon a model 10-8 4'', 5D serial making it ~1978 or so model year.

$300 exchanged hands and I was on my way.

This looks like a PD trade in although it has no department markings on it. It came with an old dried out Pachmayr grip, some leading, dried out and dirty but was not fired much. It had some muzzle wear and a few marks on the cylinder but no rust. The timing was even and tight as new with good lockup on all chambers.

I spend a good day cleaning, freshening the blue and filling in the muzzle wear as best as I could. Changed out the springs and totally happy with the results.

I really love how the gun handles and how nimble it is. Bore axis is low making it feel it's sitting inside my hands. I use a Pachmayr gripper full size for practicing. It is also deadly accurate. I also like that the small cylinder rotates quickly in double action. The gun is the most fun to shoot. Waiting for a leather holster and can't wait for the first match.

Certainly doesn't look like a $300 gun to me. Congratulations on a good pick up.

Yup..in my opinion..the heavy barrel model 10s are a steal of a great K frame! That one is a winner! Pinned too.

Beautiful! Certainly looks like you got your money’s worth. I have a few of them and shoot them all on a regular basis.

"nimble" is a great way to explain how a 4" K frame handles.

If this gun looked like the usual $300 police trade-in, you did spend a very productive day "freshening it up". Looks good!

I'm not sure what made you think Police trade in but I'm not seeing anything that looks like the trade ins I've seen. Or maybe I need you to take a few pictures of me! If you can dress up a police trade in like that, I might even look presentable to someone other than my mother!!!

That is a nice wheelgun. I think a model 10 is like the sweet spot for a service type revolver.
