Model 37 "Air weight 3" barrel (Mfg. 1980)
Hello all. Just figured out the latest Photobucket program and can again share some of my gun shop finds.
Found this gun in an almost new condition in a gun shop in Cape Coral, Florida. Had a set of Pachmayr grips so I installed these ":allegedly custom S&W grips/sort of laminated look to them".
Some of my friends have been beating down my door to buy this from me. (Told them I would trade for a pristine Walther German .32 PPK although I think there are a lot more Walther's around than Model 37's in this condition.)

Had the very same gun. I deserve a kick in the pants for selling it.

Trooper Joe will feel exactly the same way if he trades it for a Walther...

I purchased one from a private party a couple years ago.
It also came with Pachmayr grips which I switched out for square butt service stocks bought from Smith and Wesson.
The 3" 37 is the middle gun in the picture.
The bottom is a 37 snub.
Top is a 36-1. 3" bull barrel.

Square butt is my favorite configuration, and almost impossible to find. My 37 is the RB variety.

I have a model 36, 3", bull barrel also. What a great gun. Can't seem to find a photo of it today.

I bought this snub Model 37 in 1978 and still love to shoot it with midrange wadcutters. I'll occasionally practice with the "normal" stuff, but it isn't all that much fun. As you can tell from the missing coloration on the trigger, it was my very first "lock works polish" job.

Trooper Joe,
I'm a particular fan of 3" Chiefs Specials; here are a few. Still waiting for the right 37 3" though. Looks like you've got a dandy. Trade it for a Walther? Naw!

You must have one of those rare model 37s at the bottom of the photo, with a 6-round cylinder - probably a model 31 .

I bought a Model 31 square butt back in the early 80's and let my late dad keep it as a house gun. It had one chamber that looked like a reamer had gone wild and left a gouge like a spiral. I sold it some years ago. I wish I had sent it back to S&W and had the cylinder replaced. The square butt j frames fit my hand perfectly.
