Default Acquiring p&r m28....latest year possible?

Being Illinois, I can't pick this up til tomorrow. Didn't care about sn, just that it was an immaculate Highway Patrolman that someone had put a nice pair of target grips on in place of its original magnas. So just checking, what would have been the latest date you could have expected to see a pinned barrel and recessed chambers in a 28?

That's really hard to say since they used up old parts even after the change. I would guess 1981-1982.
