Default Model 10-6 year of Manufacture

Can anyone help with a manufacturing date/year for a Model 10-6 s/n D 337273?

Also, a description of what Build No. 63086 would mean.

.38 Special ammo only?

+P?

Recent inheritance. 1st time at the range with it today. 1st shot out of the barrel was dead center of the target! Anyone want a Glock 23?

Can't believe response so quick!

Found it in a drawer with a full 50 round box of Federal 38 Special, 158 Grain ammo with a K-Mart price tag for $5.54!

.38spl only?

+P is fine for that gun. Just don’t make it an exclusive habit. Now that I reload my own ammo, I could make +P with just a tiny bit more powder, but why bother for punching paper?

as you can see, the forcing cone has a relief cut at 6 o'clock to accommodate the yoke closing and allowing for a small frame design. This has been known as the weak spot especially on model 19s when shooting 357 and lighter grain bullets. Not worth putting undue strain on such a wonderful collectable.

Welcome! Since no one answered your last question - if you see the 63086 stamped on various area (right lower side of grip frame, yoke arm, etc.) it is called an assembly number, assigned to keep major components of the gun together though the production process. After it leaves the factory the only significance is you know all the parts are original.

"1st shot out of the barrel was dead center of the target! Anyone want a Glock 23?"

Try to keep the secret from coming out or everyone will want one . Enjoy!
