Default 15-1 came today

I have a 6" K-38 five screw, a 14 no dash, 14-2, 14-3, K-22 four screw, and 17-2. I was looking for a 14-1 for a while. I saw this on GB at a start price I thought was reasonable if it was clean and a -1. I couldn't see the trigger guard screw in the pics and asked the seller. It has a little holster wear, but it is really nice. The seller said it needed a good cleaning, but I never have the first patch through the barrel and charge holes come out as clean as with this one. I put it here because the serial is K4687XX which shows up as 1962 in the SCSW.It is stamped 15-1 and has the fourth screw. I may still jump on a 14-1 if I find one at a good price. It's off to the range in a day or two.

Yes, I guess I'll have to start looking for the 4" variations, in addition to a 14-1, now.

Very, very nice and it still has sharp edges. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot this one, you'll find model 15's to be very user friendly. Mine is a 15-2 that has literally thousands of rounds put through it. Bought it in '66 new in San Francisco, at Bob Chow's gun shop. I will never give that gun up, it's that good.

Yes, model 15s are great revolvers. I have a15-3 I picked up a while back that was really in bad shape. Sent it back to Smith for a high polish refinishing and got back a real gem. Used one for a long time while in the Air Force (Small Arms Tech).

I also have an 18-3 (.22 Combat Masterpiece). Have put Ahernd grips on both.

Congrats on a sweet 15. I bought one earlier this year from a fellow forum member and love it. Found the loads it likes and it is fun to shoot.
The Model 15 is a S&W classic.
Enjoy!
