Nobody can convince me to fire this beauty ...
Just became the proud owner of a very unusual 14-3 with a bit of history behind it:
And I am NOT going to fire it.
That's right. Ain't gonna happen.
Go ahead ... tell me how they were made to be fired ...
You'd shoot it. No safe queens for you.
Well, I beg to differ.
You wouldn't shoot this one. Guaranteed.
You see, it has an issue ... a bit of leading in the barrel ...

Not only that, the cylinder doesn't open ... can't cock the hammer ... can't pull the trigger. Heck, the grips aren't even numbered to the gun!
I know what you're thinking ... what a bonehead! Why buy a bunged up 14-3??
Well, the serial number pretty much sums it up ...
Why buy a "dummy" S&W?
Here's why ...
(Check out the last line.)

According to my wife it is.
"You bought a gun that doesn't even work??!"
I told her the way things are going in this state, gun-control-wise, this will be the only kind that we are "allowed" to have. I'm just getting ahead of the game.

I had that one on my watch list and was VERY tempted! Neat piece of S&W history that I don't think I've seen before.

Bubba said," All I had to do was hold his beer and he could give it to fire using his Dremel tool"
Childs play for a man like Bubba....why he can do almost anything with a dremel and a hammer!

PS. I think I may have met him once here in Montana.......

Is there any known side story as to what appears to be scratched UNDER the serial "number" in the picture?
It's neat. Did it require a 4473?

You think it could possibly say "Milton"? Kinda looks like it to me. Not that it matters. It's an interesting acquisition, though, no doubt about that.

Couldn't you have a gunsmith shorten the barrel to get rid of the plug? Can anyone say 3.5" Model 14.

With stocks that are not numbered to the gun I'd say it's not worth the effort.
Forget the other problems.......when stocks are down that's when those louses go back to their spouses!!!
Sorry, it just came to me.

THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING PIECE, TO SAY THE LEAST ! ! !
I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE EXISTENCE OF GUNS LIKE THIS. I'M SURE THAT IT WOULD BE EAGERLY PURCHASED, BY COUNTLESS MEMBERS OF THE COLLECTOR COMMUNITY......

A good gunsmith could have that thing working in 30 to 45 minutes.

That barrel is just plugged, it's welded on both ends, "heat transfer marks around the muzzle" .

When I first saw the end of the barrel, I thought you were going to say it caught a fired round during a gunfight! Almost looks like it too. Neat piece. Thanks for showing it off.
