My Holy Grail Gun
Been looking for a Model 27 with 8 3/8” Barrel for quite a while. Around here scarce as hen’s teeth. The few I’ve seen at local shows were all priced out of sight. Finally picked up this -2 today. It’s darn near perfect. Grips aren’t original but do feel awful good. No blue wear and just the slightest turn line. Almost too nice to shoot. I said almost. It will have the snot shot out of it tomorrow weather permitting. Thanks for letting me show it off. Sorry about quality of pictures. iPad was only thing handy.

Pictures are fine. Take that bad boy out to the longer ranges it was built for.

Nice find!Glad you got what you wanted. For some reason N frames are going way up in price. I have bought several guns in the last 6 months. Many N frames. Never owned a 27, and probably won't as long as there are 28's around, but I am seeing a lot of ads for 28's at $ 1K+. Prices are getting a little nuts IMO. Glad you found what you wanted at a price point that you liked. Enjoy!!

Congratulations! Looks just like the one I picked up today. Born about 1969-1972 according to SCS&W 4th edition. Photo from inside the pawn shop.

Very cool- I’m Particularly fond of the 8 3/8” guns. Could shoot .38 wadcutters thru those all day long.

These are fun shooters. I bought my 27-2 used about 15 years ago and it is a keeper.

I am guessing you are still doing your happy dance. You found a fine specimen of what you wanted. Can't beat that.
Yeah that almost to nice to shoot didn't make it with me either. LOL I didn't buy the gun to save for someone else to shoot.

Then there is double your pleasure and double your fun. I ended up with two of them, and both in great condition.

I'm glad you found it at a price you could afford. I passed on one almost like it a few years back because I didn't quite have the money in the ready cash fund.

Here's a picture of my model 27's box. You have to remember this was new price in 1974!
I hope you enjoy your M27 as much as I do mine. Congratulations!

27 Long barrel
Congrats! What a great feeling when you finally acquire your grail gun, and the feeling of appreciation every time you handle it. It's all yours to enjoy!
I love the long barrel 27's. Here's my pre 27 shooter, one of my favorites to shoot and admire!

Go and tell your master that we have been charged by God with a sacred quest. If he will give us food and shelter for the night, he can join us in our quest for the Holy Grail.

An long barrel 27 or pre-27 is definitely on my wish list for future purchases. Here's my 3 1/2" pre-27, 4" Non-Registered Magnum, and 5" 27-2.

I have a 4" Nickel, 5" nickel, 6.5" blued, and a 8-3/8ths blued. I need a 3-1/2" and 6". 6" is doable, but 3-1/2" models are going out of sight. I can't even fathom what a Registered (or Non-Registered) would go for. There're two on auction right now at over $3500 with ten days still to go.

I like the long-barreled 27s a lot. They shoot like lasers way out there. The long sight radius makes for a more precise shot, and the longer barrels give any load a bit more velocity. I have two 8 3/8" 27-2s; they are both beauties and perform wonderfully. The extra weight of the long barrel also makes shooting way more comfortable. Congrats on finding your "holy grail" gun!
