Default Would you buy this for $375?

Seems like a no brainer, but I thought I’d throw it out there. Model 30-1 .32 Hand Ejector, round butt, 2 inch barrel, non diamond magnas, new style thumb latch and no “H” prefix in s/n. I’m thinking 1968 date of manufacture.

Cool...that’s what I thought; just wanted a second opinion. I’ve wanted a Model 30 for awhile and saw this one. I’m working on getting him to ship it since he’s a few hours away. I’ll let you know how it turns out. And thank you for the input.

That sounds like a great buy and I definitely think you should, but to answer the question... no, I truly would not buy that. I just don't like J-frames at all and I really don't like revolvers with a barrel under 3-inches.

I'd be elated to find a K-32 with a 6-inch barrel but that particular revolver is lost on me.

$375 for a nice S/W is kind of a no brainer. Hard to say no.

.32’s tend to be very pleasant to shoot, and thus become addictive real fast.

That is a nice one.

The more I hang around here, the more I want a .32. Might be a good one for the wife and the daughter. AND me. I have not heard anyone point this out over here, but on another forum a gentleman pointed out that .32 acp has a tiny bit of a rim and can be used in many .32 revolvers. Just to have another option for ammo..... Not sure if a .32 acp is more powerful than a .32 S&W Long.. I'm assuming not, but I don't know that for sure.

.32acp would work in a pinch. I have a Ruger LCR in .327FM and it shoots them just fine. Have to use a skewer stick to eject the casings, but no big deal.

Friend Sevens, you are cheating yourself out of a whole bunch of fun! Yep, the K-32 X 6" is the grail gun of 32s, but those little stubbies are quite fun to shoot and have their place in the 32 universe. I bought a true I-frame 32 Snub from about 1948 or so many years ago and truth to tell it does EDC duties in one of my vehicles and actually gets shot more than my K-32... I don't necessarily shoot it better, I just shoot it more. if you get a chance to pick up one of these little shooters at a good price, do yourself a favor and try it. If you don't like it (highly unlikely) you won't have any trouble finding someone on this forum who will.

Regards,
Your Phriendly 'Phibian

Well, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be...he doesn’t want to hassle with shipping and it’s an 8 hour round trip for me. If I had the time, I’d make a day trip and be all over it. And to add insult to injury, he texted me that he had lowered the price to $350....Arghhhh!! If anyone is located over on the NE coast of Florida, say from New Smyrna to St. Augustine and wants a good(Great!) deal on a 30-1, PM me and I’ll ask him if I can pass on his contact info.

I'd pass on it. I would put that money into a M-36, better yet, a M-60, in .38 Special. I think .32 Long is too small for a serious revolver.

I think the gun is definitely worth that. Probably more. I recently paid $299 for a pre-model 30, but it wasn't in as nice condition as that gun (though mechanically good and a fine shooter.) If I didn't already have the .32 Smith, as well as a few other cheaper guns in that caliber, I would definitely consider the gun the OP is looking at. Best wishes.

I've never regretted jumping on a good gun deal. Even if it was something I wasn't particularly interested in at the time.

Haha, I appreciate the sentiment but I've work diligently to streamline my passions in handgunning and even at that, I get myself in to all kinds of different stuff.

Part of my attraction to handguns has to be visceral, where they must also look and feel like something I am drawn to. Yes, I can use and even enjoy an "ugly" gun, typically if it serves another purpose well, but I prefer to spend my time, money and energy in to handguns that I am drawn toward... and all snubs and basically all J-frames are not it.

I have a lot of fun with the one .32 S&W Long handgun that I have... a Walther GSP. It's nothing like anything else I have, or much of anything we chat about on this forum.

I'd buy it, load it with Buffalo Bore ammo (or Matt's Bullets HBWCs loaded upside down) and carry it.
I have a 3" 31-1 and a 3" pre 31. I'd love to have a 2" 30 or 31.

This being the case, you need to track down one of Austin Behlert's conversions of Model 41 S&W from 22 LR to 32 S&W L. Then you could feed your S&W jones as well as having a great 32 shooter. Problem solved!

Truth to tell, I can't see much difference between my Baby Chief (38 Spl of course) and my 32 Hand Ejector snub as an EDC. With proper ammo, they have just about equal terminal performance at bad breath range where they would be called on to help me. At least the bad guy won't be able to tell me which I used.

I'd buy it in a minute. It's getting tough to find any decent S&W for under $400, and I haven't seen a .32 for sale around here in over two years.
