Default Trying to figure out model of this 22

My father passed and left me some guns. I am very knowledgeable about military guns but less so on civilian. This one has me stumped. I think it is a Pre model 17 but I did not see they made them in a 2" model. Can some tell me what this is for sure. 25000 serial number range no prefix, round butt

What you have is a .22/32 Kit Gun, which became the Model 34 in 1957. Your gun is therefore a pre-model 34, made in the mid 1950's. This is a much smaller gun than the K-frame Model 17 and was made on the I-frame and then the slightly larger J-frame. These guns are a lot of fun to shoot and can use any .22 LR ammunition.

I have a model 34 snubbie, they are just fun to shoot. You will be amazed at how accurate they can be. Have fun shooting it.

The gun normally came in a 4" barrel and are also made in stainless as the Model 63, which is still sold today. The 2" are much harder to find, and command somewhat higher prices when you do find one.
