Consensus of one says. We need a pitchure! Seriously it's not a horrible deal, for either one of you. Back when I was without, I seldom found them without some holster wear in my price range. I finally settled in with a similar type & condition 17-2 for $500 out the door, and I
I filled out the forms, took posession, & left quickly, before either of us could change our minds. I am very pleased with it.
And I have a picture of mine. Get it! Show it off! We'll congrat you on It.

Here's my thread from the 1971 I picked up last month with photos for comparison. The consensus is that any decent 17 is worth more than that what I paid. I typically see them for $650+, that's why it's taken me so long to finally get one.
1971 17-3 is mine! Added pic w/t-grip latest post
I was very very lucky I stumbled across mine.

I have a 17-2 that I paid about 450 for. Fun to shoot and super accurate.

I cant tell if it’s been reblued or not, the screws holes look dished out a little bit but it could be the angle or the lighting ? Also the rear site appears to be aftermarket ? 350-750 is what I’m thinking , take that with a grain of salt for my imagination may not be giving me a clear image. On another note , What do you guys value my house at ? One of the ceiling fans upstairs makes a weird noise and there is a crack in the drywall in the living room other than that it’s pretty much mint , I paid 450k. So How did I do ? Be honest with me you won’t hurt my feelings. Thanks in advance.

My vote would be to get it simply put they aren't making them like that anymore .There is an old saying I have come to understand it goes like this. You do t pay too much for an old S&W you just bought to early . It will be going up in value even in shooter grade . I wouldn't let a few bucks one way or the other stop me . You have to think differently you tell yourself it's not that I want the gun it's I NEED it .Personaly I am retired now and keep my eye on the local used gun market .A shooter grade 17-2 like bananaman's would easily fetch in the 6 hundred range at any of our local shops and maybe more at a higher end retailer and the few who passed it up at 6 would kick themselves when they returned and it was gone .Dont ask how I know .buy that gun find a load it likes and we will wait on the range report .

I can’t ethically honestly or accurately say if you should buy it or not at 595.00 out the door , it would be a disservice to you if I were to say yea or nay based on your description without accurately detailed pictures. 595.00 could be a great deal or a bad deal ? I can’t call a strike or a ball with my eyes closed and if I were to give you an answer that’s exactly what I would be doing. The only thing worse than an Armchair appraisal is a site unseen armchair appraisal.

Only if you want the finest 22. revolver ever made.
The 17-3 is my longest owned revolver, my collection includes 22's Colt Officers Model Match, Trooper MKIII, Ruger New Model, Smith's Model 43, 34, 63, not mentioning the autos. Those other revolvers are nice, but their actions pale in comparison to both pull and smoothness of the trigger, coupled with 100% detonation, (an issue with rimfires).
Make sure there are no dimples on the cylinder and the action feels normal, then drop the coin and you will never regret the call.
DO NOT DRY-FIRE 22 REVOLERS, NEVER!

Here's a 17-3 with box, docs and all the stuff made in 1968. I was happy to pay $750 for it.

Nice gun. I wouldn't have a problem paying $750 for that either

OP....grab that one quick. Mine is a 1971 - 3T's and bought from a 1 line newspaper add (remember actual black & white newsprint).
Paid more than yours but I'm very happy. Love it when face-to-face deals go right.
My Model 17 is a very accurate gun. The sights showed no signs of ever been messed with so assuming it was like it left the factory moons ago, I went to sight it in, and bingo...it was spot on, couldn't have been better.

Sounds good, but I can’t say for sure.
Give it the used revolver check.

It was gone this morning when i went back with cash.
Thanks for the good advice.
I own a circa 1952 K-22, so I have it to fall back on.
