Default Value of model 53 6" __ UPDATED - Pictures Posted

I have a model 53 6 inch with inserts and walnut target grips (no box - lost in a move ) purchased in 1968-69 serial # K701076. It has some holster wear on the barrel at the crown. i would estimate about 90%. I am thinking about selling it. What would be a fair asking price?

Thanks

PS I can't find the usb cable for my camera. Will post pictures as sppn as possible.

PPS New usb cable on the way from amazon.

PPPS Found USB Cable Pictures Posted.

The Model 53 is one of the S&Ws that has so far eluded me; on my "interest" list but not on my "must have" list so have waited to find a nice one at the right price. They were about $800 when I started looking and I thought about 20% too expensive. Then $1000 was "too high." And now $1200-$1500 is still "too high." Your 90% condition assessment is tricky as those percentage points make a big difference in value and one guy's "90" is someone else's "95" (or "85"). Without pictures I'd guess value somewhere around $1000 +/-. I'd still like to find one some day. . . .Good luck.

I agree with 22hipower. Wanted one but not bad enough to pay the 800 asking prices... now asking seems to be north of 1000 but I don’t see any selling. It would take a complete 95% plus gun with inserts and box, etc to trip my trigger.

I owned a 1961 S&W 53 with a 4” barrel, just the gun. I was tickled to own it, but soon found out it did not do anything my 10/64/65 models could do. I tried to sell or trade it for nearly a year. It generated little interest at all. The few people who did look at it thought it should be priced like a old police issue gun.

Lots of questions. You have inserts. How bout ammo, brass, dies, bullets, etc. just the bare gun with inserts, I would say in the 1000+- range. Extras add up quickly. You might mention the barrel length.

Barrel Length 6 in. Maybe 50 rounds of brass. The rest was lost in a move with the box.

Your guns better than 90% , based on what I can see I’m guessing closer to 95% . Your gun should bring 1100.00 maybe just a little more, your initial post mentioned inserts, I’m assuming you have those. That’s just an opinion. I just sold a similar gun for a grand with no inserts and a nib 1961 100% timecapsule with the red tag, manual both swabs , perfect correct serial numbered box for 3,000
