Default 29-2 6.5 Barrel Cleaning Rod

All

I am in search for the cleaning tools for my 29-2. I looks like I will have to piece this together. How long should the cleaning rod be? Are then any differences that I should know of from different calibers? What about sight adjustment tool, are they all the same?

Thanks

Angelo

I just purchased a Pro-Shot product cleaning rod with components. It seems to work as well as any I have tried in the past. It comes in various lengths, but I obtained an 8" rod which handles basically all the handguns I own. Mine is good for .38 cal, .357, 9mm, 40 cal, 10mm, & 45.

Amazon.Com has them.

I've used Dewey coated rods for years for rifles and handguns. I usually buy from Brownell's but they are likely available elsewhere.

Thank you for the reply, however I am looking for the tools to complete my display case. I need to know how long the cleaning rod should be? Can I use a rod for a 6in barrel vs 6.5?

If I am reading his post correctly, I think the OP is asking about the factory-correct parts instead of a source for cleaning supplies. I'd be interested in responses as well, as I have some N-Frame revolvers in the presentation case that did not come with the original SAT, mop, or wire brush with rod.

I know the SAT's have several variations, some much more pricey than others. I seem to recall a thread about them quite recently.

I have both a 6" and 6.5" case. I can get mine out and measure.

I measured two cleaning rods for a 44 Magnum with a 6 1/2-inch barrel. One measured 7 1/4 inches, the other 7 7/16 inches. The type of sight screw driver, brush that attaches to the aluminum cleaning rod, and the swab depends on how old your 29-2 is as these accessories changed over the years. I can tell you the correct type if you tell me when your 29-2 shipped or at least some of its serial number.

"Tool -Set" from 1976
Sorry, not from a M 29-2. "Only" from a M 27-2 (pics 1-3).

The M 29-2 (# 497XXX = 1978 ?) came later
(without box & tools )

The accessories shown for the 27-2 in post #9 are also correct for your Model 29-2. The sight screwdriver has a fluted aluminum handle and hollow ground tip. The mop and brush have a threaded aluminum base.

Original S&W cleaning kits come up on eBay but since they are no longer supplied with newer guns, be prepared for sticker shock. After market seems to be the only solution for those unwilling to pay the price.
