Default Picking up a S&W 17-6.

I should be getting a 17-6, 6". It is blued and shooter grade. SN is K958xxT. It has magna grips and a partridge front sight.

Does the T mean target? When is the date of manufacturer? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!
Karnivore

That s/n is not for a 17-6. Much earlier.17-6 would begin with 3 letters.

Take a look at the new pic. Is something is strange about the SN?

Looks like a Model 17-3 from around 1969 IMO..perhaps the last digit is a 7 ?

Take the serial number off the bottom of the grip frame. And it's a " Patridge" sight, after the man who invented it I believe.

K958967
17-3
Blow the picture up and you can tell.
No need to x out the serial when you have a picture of it.
Nice one.

Default 17-6

My 17-5 has an AWV prefix which puts it in ‘86-87 range, I believe.

Nice one.
Plus 1.
A 17-6 would also most likely be a full lug gun.
