M53-2 .22 Remington Jet
I think this is a pretty neat .22 Mag.
Its not something I'm interested in just never seen one.

I have a Jet and wish I had the 2nd 22lr cylinder for it although I do have plenty of K22s. The Model 53 cylinders are longer than regular K22s and the cylinder alone is worth $400 or more if one can find one for sale.
They are interesting guns. You have to have the chambers very clean and dry or the fired cases back out and jam up. There is a fair amount of interest in them. Would you let us know what they were asking for it.

Its in a collection I inherited. Not sure what I'm going to do with it but if I sell it I'll post it on this forum.

I own eleven Model 53's in all three barrel lengths. They are great guns. If you decide to sell it, I'd be interested.

If you do decide to sell it, you should take it out and fire it first.
They are a blast (literally) to shoot. It shoots out flame and has an extremely loud report and hardly any recoil. Ammo is available again. Use good ear protection. Both muffs and plugs highly recommended.

OMG! The op's gun is so beautiful I can barely stand it -in the original box, diamond targets and a 22lr cylinder!! I thought you can not get any better than that. Then.... I scroll down to witness bdGreens gun all the same but in nickel!!!! Please excuse me I am going to have to go smoke a cigarette. I'm done can't take it no more. Great guns guys and if I seen gun club fan's eleven guns at once, that would do me in!!!!! Enjoy fellas

Jets
Club Gun Fan don't have all of them(YET). Here's a pair!
For all you Jet shooters that buy old factory ammo! This is what a forcing cone will look like after a few hundred rounds of that stuff! Jets are barrel burners and they don't make barrels any more! ! ! ! Reload and you can shoot forever!

Here's mine. Bought it new in 1965 during my senior college year. Paid $127.45 for it, $5.00 down and $5.00 month. Many rounds through it plus a lot of .22LR with the inserts (couldn't afford Jet ammo much in college). Will never be sold in my life time.

A bit off the subject, but here goes. Was at a gun show today and a friend has a rifle chambered in .22 RemJet. We look for different factory loads for older obsolete ammo. We found a box of Remington .22 RemJet (50 in the box) and the dealer wanted $125 and was surprised when my friend passed on it. A few rows over we found some 20 round boxes for $36.00 a box. Good thing he reloads.

AJ, Many moons ago I saw a Harrington and Richardson Handi-Rifle in .22 Rem Jet in a shop in Western Kansas. I wish I would have had enough money to buy it, never saw another. I have a reload based on WW 296 that is pretty close to factory, somewhere I have a photo of a five shot 25 yard group, from a bench where 4 rounds are touching and the other is within 1/2 of the rest. Deadly on Pasture dogs, jack rabbits and coyotes. I have mucho rounds of brass from when I could buy Remington/Peters for $5.50 a box of 50. All this has made me decide to dig it our of my safe and put a few rounds down range again.....now, if I can find my ear plugs and my muffs........

Galena, this is a H&R Model 158. He was given it by a friend of ours. What was your load for the WW 296? He is looking for a good load. He has been reloading a bunch of different stuff, but nothing has been that accurate yet.

AJ, Went out to my reloading room. My final load with WW-296 is 9.8grns, CCI-550 SP mag primers. My notes say best accuracy, that is right at 2100fps but I never cronigraphed it. My book says 12.2 is max. those loads are all with Remington .222 40grn, Jet bullets, .223 or .224 requires at least 10% reduction for starting loads. The attached photo is a 25yrd group, from bench with 11.5 grains 296, CCI-550 primer and .222 Remington Jet bullets. The rifle I saw many years ago may well have been an H&R 158 instead of a Handi-rifle. Still wish I would have bought it. Safe shootin'....be careful with those reloads.

I have a couple thousand rounds of new brass I got from a member here and had a couple hundred before I got that. I doubt I will ever use it all up.
Plus, you can get Privi loaded rounds for $23 for a box of 50 or $220 for 500 from SGAmmo.com. Search for 22 JET under pistol ammo
