Welcome to the Forum.

We need the number that is stamped on the butt. You may have to remove the grips to read it. Any letters stamped on the butt are part of the SN. They could be "C", "D", "K", "S", "V", etc.

The number you provided is an assembly number, which has no meaning after the revolver is completed. That number was used to keep major parts together during the build.

Pictures are always a great help.

Read this post/thread: To IDENTIFY your Gun > and and come back with the serial number. What you have given in the "assembly number", which has no value for identifying your revolver.

Since it does not seem to have a model number in the yoke cut, it probably does not have a three screw frame. Those didn't show up until well after model numbers were in use. It should have either 4 or 5 frame screws.

Perhaps you can post a photo of the right side of the gun.

You should start a new thread in the Smith And Wesson Hand Ejectors 1896 to 1961. Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

Inusuit's reply is correct. However, if your revolver was actually made in 1955, it will not be marked as a Model 37. That didn't start until 1958. Are you going by the April, 1955, date on the inside bottom of the box? If so, that date has nothing whatever to do with when the gun was assembled.
